Andale 125th Anniversary
& SummerFest
ANDALE,
Saturday, Aug. 8th,
Andale had a hot time celebrating the town's 125th Anniversary, at their annual SummerFest. Mary Ann walked in the parade, as hubby Kelly followed in a truck tossing candy. Afterward, Mary Ann & Kelly walked throughout the festival, passing out ice-pops for the kids, and engaging with parents & other voters, getting their priorities for her coming term in the Legislature.

National Night Out
GODDARD
Friday eve., Aug. 7th,
Oh, what a party! City officials, first-responders, the Lions Club and more joined forces for a spectacular evening, complete with music & DJ, emergency vehicle exhibits, a helicopter takeoff, contests & games for the kids, free food & water, and lots of community exhibits -- including Mary Ann's booth, where we met dozens of local voters, who shared their priorities with us, as we shared our cold water and candy.

@ the City Pool:
City Administrator Kelly McElroy was warmly enaging with the public. Police were great with the kids, handing out great toys. Everyone was having a great time in the pool, and getting along splendidly. Ahh. the charm of small-town living!
Goddard Schools Public Retreat
GODDARD,

Eisenhower Middle School:
Less than ½ of 1% of schools have retreats. This one was excellent, and well-attended by board members, teachers, and staff.
An update on the Special Education (SPED) program, reported that the number of kids in SPED is declining due to effective early intervention and other measures.
Other topics included the election on the bond proposal, and how Goddard schools are funded by the state.
I was impressed by Goddard Schools' connection to resources for mental health support, suicide prevention, and enhancing healthy real-life connections for our kids.
Some parents felt there should be more consultation with them, and with their kids, about school improvements.
Still, in my door-to-door visits with Goddard voters, I find Goddard parents overwhelmingly happy with their schools. Compliments to Goddard!
Reno County Ice Cream Social
SOUTH HUTCHINSON:
July 19th
Mary Ann was invited to speak at the Reno County Ice Cream Social, in South Hutchinson. Visitors applauded her stance on resisting new data centers, and her determination to reduce homeowners' property taxes.
Sedgwick County Fair - Cheney
Wednesday thru Saturday, July 8-11
CHENEY: Hundreds of fairgoers met Mary Ann Harmon & her crew at the Sedgwick County Fair. We had a booth in Building 3, where you could come and meet Mary Ann, discuss her ideas, and tell her YOUR concerns and wishes. She's enjoyed visiting with you!
Above, Mary Ann, in the Fair Parade, Wednesday eve, grabs another handful of candy to throw to the kids, as her crew, in white "HARMON" T-shirts, pass out candy and flyers, and chat with the crowd.
At right, in her Building 3 booth, a future constituent points out his home on her district map, as another registers for a door prize. Slide show in the background outlines our District's challenges, and her targets for change.
Carnival rides and games, every kind of fair food, live music, rodeo, eclectic shopping (get yer' cowboy hats, exotic jewelry, big tools & odd toys here!), sports & farm competitions, petting zoo, demolition derby, and more! Such fun!

Harmon at Independence Day events
Mary Ann attended the Independence Day events in Goddard, and in her hometown, Garden Plain.
July 4:
GARDEN PLAIN:
Mary Ann rode in the Garden Plain parade with supporters, who greeted onlookers, handed out literature, and tossed out candy. The afternoon events throughout the city, including games, rides, and other attractions, finished with fireworks.
Just for fun, Mary Ann entered the apple pie baking contest (another cook beat her, but hers was still delicious!), It was a lively event.
GODDARD:
That evening, Mary Ann joined the festivities at Goddard, greeting and chatting with hundreds of attendees throughout the festival grounds, between concert performances and fireworks. Many of the attendees were excited to hear her knowledge of the tax and data centers issues, and her ideas for bringing both under control. And there was free ice cream!
What better way to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary, than to engage in politicking in the land that makes it free and open to all!
Harmon Wins Endorsements from Local Leaders
Mary Ann Harmon has been endorsed for 101st District State Representative by these current and former local leaders:
- J.C. Moore, former State Representative;
- Dee Stuart, former Mayor of Park City;
- Justin Shore, Clearwater City Councilman
They are part of a growing list of leaders supporting Harmon for State Rep.
Mary Ann Tells Legislators to Roll Back Property Taxes, Limit Data Centers
WICHITA, May 14th:
The local State Senators & Representatives held their annual public meeting to hear citizens' concerns. Our current district State Rep did not show up. Mary Ann did, and scolded the legislators for shifting property taxes away from big corporations, onto homeowners and consumers. We used to pay only 38% of property taxes, but since our current "representative" has been in office, that's grown to 57%.
She also spoke out against big data centers,
that will devastate our our district's farmlands,
consume and pollute our water, drive up our
energy costs, and generate noise - yet provide
only a temporary small surge of employment,
to be followed swiftly by their permanent destruction of many good jobs in our district, state and nation.
Dozens of Citizens from both parties applauded & joined her message, making a clear impression on the gathered lawmakers.
It's time to bring OUR priorities to the statehouse in Topeka,
putting the focus back on OUR needs.
