- Voice for the District
Always a doer, Mary Ann has kept an active life with Kelly, her husband of over 40 years, working and volunteering, while caring for family, friends and pets in their busy life.
Born and raised in District 101, by a machinist and a church leader, Mary Ann graduated with honors from Garden Plain High School, then graduated from college with a science degree and license as a Veterinary Technician. She then worked for a popular Wichita-area veterinary clinic, and married Kelly Harmon of Cheney. an industrial worker and union steward, who worked at AT&T outside Goddard, while earning his business degree.
While living in West Wichita, they were called to missionary work in the Caribbean, serving four years among the poorest of the poor, helping manage the region's leading charity hospital. Returning to the states, Mary Ann worked again as a vet tech, while Kelly worked up through
the ranks in industry.
They returned to District 101 to care for Mary Ann's mother.
Kelly "retired" and began building a house, as Mary Ann helped, while running a busy estate-sale enterprise, and also engaging in volunteer work throughout the area.
Now, finally "retired," Mary Ann does volunteer work
throughout the district for civic groups, veterans, and animal rescue organizations,
and testifies about our district's needs at legislative hearings.
Deeply involved with our district and its people, and our many needs and challenges, she's offering to take our concerns to Topeka, on an official, full-time basis, as our district's state representative.
She's proven she'll work... for us.
